What are we waiting for?

A popular question is, "What are you waiting for?" We might ask that of those who haven't accepted Christ as Saviour.  The hour is late, and the reward is great - for those who are waiting for the return of Christ and His heavenly, eternal kingdom, so why wait any longer to get on board.  You say, "What is the reward? And just what are we waiting for?"  Not only will we see Christ face to face and our saved loved ones who've gone on before, but we will also have a new, heavenly body and mind.

Consider the wonder and glory expressed in these verses:

I Cor. 13:12 KJV - "For now we see through a glass darkly: but then face to face; now I know in part; but then shall I KNOW EVEN AS ALSO I AM KNOWN.Ampl Ver - ". . .but then I shall know and understand fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God]."

I John 3:2 KJV - "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, WE SHALL BE LIKE  HIM; for we shall see Him as He is."

Phil. 3:20-21 KJV - "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ; Who shall change our vile body, that IT MAY BE FASHIONED LIKE UNTO HIS GLORIOUS BODY, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself."

Rom. 8:18 KJV - "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the GLORY THAT SHALL BE REVEALED IN US.Ampl Ver - ". . .the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us, and conferred on us"

I Cor. 15:52-53 Ampl Ver - "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the (sound of the) last trumpet call, For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable -- free and immune from decay -- and WE SHALL BE CHANGED (TRANSFORMED).  For this perishable [part of us] must put on the imperishable [nature], and this mortal [part of us] -- this natue that is capable of dying -- must put on immortality (freedom from death)."

So - what are we waiting for?  The return of Christ and the wonder, glory and splendor of His Heavenly Kingdom.  Now, what are YOU waiting for - to become a follower of Christ and get in line to receive these things from Him as well as peace and joy as you wait for His return?
